My students thrive when given the opportunity to get out of those rigid and hard chairs and desks. They are more engaged, comfortable and focused on the tasks at hand when they are not spending time trying to find a way to get comfortable. These requested Hokki Stools will be added to our selection of yoga ball chairs, wobble cushions, resistance banded desks and floor cushion seating options for students to choose from daily. They will primarily be offered during small group instruction and students will also be able to use them during independent study. Flexible seating options such as the Hokki Stools will provide my students with a relaxing, highly engaged and student-centered learning environment. Flexible seating provides some added health benefits such as more calories burned, better posture, using of excess energy, improved core strength, and better oxygen flow to the brain. Studies have shown that even short bursts of physical activity or movement can improve motivation, engagement and on task behavior. All of these resulting in higher academic performance.
