I believe that using Art Therapy group counseling in schools can help make education a positive and rewarding experience and this is where the idea for the Art & Soul group counseling program began. The student groups include working on art journals, activities that foster self-esteem and confidence, thought, and reflection. The group helps to create camaraderie between group members, understanding, and empathy amongst peers. There are regularly scheduled lesson plans however the group remains open and flexible to work on projects as they may arise. We have had the pleasure of participating in district art initiatives, curating an end of the year art exhibit, and holding team building day activities. The groups are limited to allow for maximum facilitation and open communication.
