My students are eager to learn each day but face many disadvantages that affect their learning. In the inner city, very few of our students have access to a computer outside of school. It is in the classroom where they can be exposed to technology and given the opportunity to learn the skills they will need to be successful. I try to create a college-going atmosphere in my third grade classroom and provide my students with as many skills as possible to help college become a reality for them. Hands-on experience with computers will not only provide my students with much needed technology skills, but will allow them access to many educational resources, and will help them to fully engage with learning.
