My school is a Title 1 school and many of the students don't have access to resources to advance themselves. Students in my classroom are given such opportunities through the use of computers in Engineering, Digital Media, Computer Programming, and Video Game Design. This year, we were blessed with new computers with dual-screen displays, but not enough cables for all the monitors. Why do my students need your help? I was only given enough display cables for half of the monitors to connect them to the computers. The exact words I was told were, "It is up to your department to supply the rest." Please help my students by providing them with full connectivity to the resources we have. All of my Engineering and Digital Media classes offer students Dual-Credit (college credit). It would be great to have the resources to give them real-world experience that they can use in college on on the job. This will benefit all my classes, but here are a few specific examples. By having full access to the dual-screen monitors students in Engineering can simultaneously be doing testing and gathering the results on their computer during their scale model earthquake tests unit. Students in Digital Media can follow along with guided examples being shown by the teacher on their computer while also doing the project on their other screen. Our current display projector setup lags and has a faded display, but with the longer cable I can connect it to the teacher computer and use it to eliminate both of those issues and help guide students through whatever it is we're working on. Overall, it will help to streamline the classes and help remove some of the smaller obstacles to my students' learning.
