My students are reading well below grade level, which means most books that match their reading level do not match their interests. These students have a very difficult time finding books that they can read that are engaging and fun. Often they must choose books that are engaging but too difficult or books at an appropriate reading level but with "little kid" content. Struggling to learn to read only becomes more difficult and tedious when the materials are too childish and boring. Not only do we want to develop reading skills, but we also want to foster a love of reading. This becomes a nearly impossible task without specialized books designed to engage older readers at lower reading levels.

About my class
