In our indoor classroom we have several flexible learning areas and seating options. Based on what they know about themselves as thinkers and learners, students can choose from the following indoor learning areas: teacher table, individual desks, stand-up desks, countertop, or floor. Indoor seating options include soft chairs, small stools, tall stools, carpet squares, or none. An outdoor learning area gives students an outdoor space to learn while practicing social distancing, minimizing risks of COVID-19 exposure, and providing intermittent mask breaks. Comfortable seating (portable and easy for winter storage), small tables (portable and easy to clean), and an outdoor rug (washable) create a cozy and comfortable space to participate in reading, spelling, and writing instructions and lessons.
