We live in an urban area in north Texas with a high poverty rate, yet a high work ethic as well. The large majority speak Spanish at home while many are or were in the ESL program. Our smart, dedicated students do not let their lack of language effect their learning, rather, they find ways to use their first language to assist learning their second. Some students have difficult home lives and only feel safe and loved at our school. It's important to support these dedicated learners so that they choose correct paths, and can function well in society with polished social and academic skills.

About my class
