My students are unique, awesome teenagers. They are 9th graders and although they live in the same neighborhood and go to the same school, they are in fact very, very different. My students range in age from 12-16. We have Latinos, African Americans, Mexicans, Tongans, Samoans, Hawaiians- all with endless pride in who they are. In my class, four languages are spoken. My students are living in one of the most underprivileged areas in California. They face obstacles each day that most do not. They face deportation issues, gang problems and endless violence in their everyday lives. Although young in age and struggling to catch up to their academic grade level work, more and more each day they are beginning to see that they could do anything they set their minds to. Our school is supposed to be centered on Business and Technology project work, but with our lack of funding, we struggle to find the resources to provide these learning opportunities. For these things, we need your help
