We would like to take our fourth-grade students to Heifer Ranch to learn about sustainability and to extend the service project of raising money for Heifer International. We were inspired by the book, Beatrice's Goat, and how a little girl in Uganda wanted to go to school, but her family couldn't afford to send her. In response to that book, the fourth graders raise money to send goats and chicks to families all over the world to help these families have money for food, clothing, medicine, and even school. This trip will open their eyes and hearts to how they can truly change lives in a positive way and inspire them to continue this work in our community and worldwide. This will promote global awareness so students have an understanding of the world outside their community and how they can help others in a sustainable way.
