My students are truly on board for science. We are using Project Based Learning with a focus on the Engineering Design Process. This calls for many hands-on activities and the cost of supplies is becoming a hinderance when selecting the different activities. Now we are getting into chemical reactions, which requires the use of electronic balances to measure density and the mass of different substances. I have had to pass on a few activities because my classroom and colleagues in the science department lack electronic balances and boiling point thermometers. I am seeking to give my students the best experience which includes having the equipment to conduct investigations. My students are learning the Engineering Design Process which will introduce them to working out problems systematically. This will be very valuable in any career they choose.
