My goal is to fill the classroom with Spanish texts for students. Students will read books that meet their needs according to each student level of reading. Also, they will be in contact with both fiction and nonfiction differentiated texts. With leveled books, the teacher is able to track the student progress more easily. Students will be able to have guided small group reading, free reading, and check out Spanish books from the classroom Spanish library to take home. The teacher will be also able to use these books for reading aloud to model good reading strategies. We are also working on developing research skills and these books will provide students with text to support their research. Spanish books with a great emphasis in culture and traditions will help their understanding of the world, and extend their vision of different cultures of the world. This will allow students to develop their bi-literacy skills while expanding their knowledge of other cultures. Students will be thankful and will increase their motivation in reading.
