My school is Detroit Achievement Academy and we are located in Detroit on the West Side. I teach second grade in a wonderful school of students that come from a range of racial backgrounds. About 3/4 of our students come from low-income homes and live in a low-income community. Many students have limited access to social and community resources and although many of them face challenges on a daily basis, they come to school everyday excited to learn and achieve! My students have high hopes of becoming scientists, teachers, doctors and artists. I hope to continue to foster their love of learning through rich, exciting texts and hands on learning materials and experiences. Our students are creative, active, curious, and strong! They deserve the same access and exposure to academic resources, as any other child does. Thank you for your support and stay tuned for the amazing things that they are going to achieve!!
