Young children are more engaged when doing kinesthetic and visual learning activities. Activities such as "Touch and Read Phonics Match Set" and "Four Sound Word Building Puzzles" take a required skill (reading the individual sounds in words and blending) and add an element of engagement and interest while also creating opportunities for differentiation with the various levels included in this set. Young students who are struggling in reading need repeated practice of foundational skills in order to master and apply these skills. Sight words mastery is another tricky skill for many students in my intervention groups. The "Flip and Read Sight Word Sentences" and "Leveled Sight Word Cards" allow students to practice reading the words alone, writing the words and practicing them in sentences, all in an engaging and independent activity. This type of practice and repetition will increase the rate of mastery!
