The use of STEAM bins will be a daily occurrence in our classroom. We have found that providing the children with time to explore and engage as they begin their day to be most beneficial. Creating a rocketship out of Legos, a maze with wooden blocks or a tower with Magformer magnetic tiles is a sure way to set the tone for our students' day. Not only are STEAM bins great for morning work, but they may also be used when students finish their work early, in conjunction with Literacy Centers, and as part of student incentives. Their uses are limitless! Elementary school is the perfect time to introduce the engineering design process through simple STEAM activities because it builds on children’s natural curiosities to create. We wanted to provide an invitation for children to explore and engineer through play using kid-friendly, durable materials. Kinesthetic learners, spatial learners, and logical learners will love exploring the different possibilities for the building materials.
