Though my students have challenges in communicating and interacting with others, they enjoy being with their peers. Having noise canceling headphones would help them be successful in larger group activities. The headphones would address their sensory needs as well. Having these headphones would allow them to attend and enjoy assemblies by reducing the noise they experience. When my students experience too much noise, they may cry or have a meltdown which might take a long time to recover. My goal is to allow each child to participate in school activities as much as possible by providing the support they need. Encouraging each student to be as independent as possible gives them the confidence to try new experiences. Noise-canceling headphones will enable each student to work without distraction and participate in activities without fear of noise that could greatly disrupt their day.
