Having a rich classroom library has proven to greatly improve student interest in books! The books we have selected here have been chosen because they are successful at engaging readers. 7th graders love to be social, and they are no different when it comes to reading. Multiple copies of high interest books is one excellent way to allow them to be social while they read because they can easily form book clubs where they inspire and motivate one another. My current library is weak in high interest/low level and humorous books. The few books I have of this variety are checked out, and many students must wait in line to find engaging books. This cart of books will keep them all engaged in an ongoing way.
