Many of our students lack confidence even though there is an abundance of talent within our school. Students have not seen the importance of art within their daily life because there are no art galleries, art museums, advertising agencies, etc.. here in our little town. Our students need to be showcased. Their artwork needs to be in the spotlight. Our students need to feel that the talent they possess is important and unique. Most of the students that attend our school are on free or reduced lunch. Many share homes with other family members. Most of them do not have a "space" of their own. Students begin drinking alcohol, gambling, and abusing drugs at young ages because there is not much to do here. This is the type of life they see at home. Many of our students will never leave this town even though there are minimum opportunities here. The majority of them will never visit an art museum or art gallery unless it is on a school field trip.
