I am a brand new teacher, who has a small amount of classroom supplies. The classroom I am taking over does not have a classroom library, and the school library is very under-developed. I am requesting books, like grade 2 and 3, Classic Grade Level Library, My weird School and I Wonder Why? that will by used by my wide range of learners, while also meeting their interest levels. I have also added a few games that I can use during Language Arts small group stations to reinforce our goals and objectives, as well as other resources so that my students can learn in a structured and engaging classroom. About one-third of my students are currently being evaluated, or have already been identified as needing specialized services. Many of my students are English Language learners who need to be exposed to a print rich environment in order for language learning to successfully occur. Creating a print-rich environment will increase vocabulary, language development, exposure to diversity, create opportunities through real-world experiences, and will enhance cognitive skills amongst many more benefits.
