The rug in my classroom is not very large. I want students to have the opportunity to choose a place to read and complete assignments that will be comfortable for them. I plan on using the rug to provide students with a place to get comfortable and read. The students love picking their own spots and working on the floor. However, I currently do not have enough options for them to all choose one. My students simply take their workbooks and find a corner in the room to work. The bean bag seat and giant pillows will provide addition spots for the students to work and concentrate on what they are working on so they are not just sitting on the tile floors while working. My students love to move. The chair balls will be used during small group work so students are less confined and can move while listening to instruction. I believe all these additions to my classroom will make it a more welcoming classroom and thus increase my students performance and engagement through a more developmentally appropriate learning environment.
