My students need touch screen technology to supplement classroom lessons and foster their creativity using technology. From counting, to tracing letters, to coloring, this project will provide kinesthetic learning opportunities which will help my students process what they learn in the classroom and embed new information through repetition and hands-on learning. Theses tablets will be utilized throughout the day, supporting multiple subjects, to reinforce lessons and to foster creative expression. I have access to a multitude of online interactive learning activities that would enhance learning in my classroom. Lack of technology has made it difficult to incorporate these exciting activities into my everyday lesson plan. With these tablets for my class, I hope to prepare my students for the technological world that we live in. These tablets will also provide my students opportunities to create art using an alternative to the traditional paper and crayon. Technology is not one size fits all. My entire school shares a small library/technology center with less than a dozen desktops and laptops. The laptops are not user friendly for my young superstar kindergartners. My students, sitting on their knees to reach their computer, struggle to wrap their tiny fingers around their full size mice. The touch screen tablets will allow my students to build their fine motor skills and use technology that fits their needs.
