Our students need to understand how to use a computer when going out into the work force. We have 3 computer labs on campus and only one that has enough computers for all students to work on during the same class period. Students would be able to use these Chromebooks to help fill in the gaps at the computer labs on campus so every student can work on a computer at one time. My students work specifically in the sciences where they are responsible for writing lab reports and researching science topics weekly. We are constantly fighting over computer lab time with the 80 teachers on campus. Having a few Chromebooks in class would free up unnecessary lab time for the few students who need a little more time on their assignments, if they couldn't finish them in the computer lab.
