Students at our public school will have an opportunity to learn a sport that is not readily available to them throughout New York City and yet is a very traditional sport, an Olympic sport with various modalities, such as indoor and beach volleyball. The volleyball base system will provide students from various grades and abilities an experience in multiple net sports, such as volleyball, tennis and badminton. Students will leave here with the exposure and skills to play at recreational and competitive levels. We can close the gap between elementary and middle/high schools by giving students more opportunities to learn the game of volleyball at an earlier age. Aside from physical skills, students will also be working on cognitive and emotional skills, such as team work, competing, and strategizing plays.
