For the past 31 years, Career High School has participated in the Anatomy Teaching Program with the Yale School of Medicine. This program draws culturally diverse students into the world of health science careers. Our 11 graders travel to the Yale Anatomy Lab twice a month to learn anatomy from volunteer medical students who demonstrate using their dissected donor bodies. Many students come to our magnet school just to participate in this program. Unfortunately, with remote learning we will not be able to go to the lab. The Anatomy Coloring Book will give the students another modality to study anatomy, as it contains a wealth of information and is really a textbook in disguise. Medical and nursing students use this book to study. Students create their own color coded anatomy atlases and have a lasting product to take to college. The hands-on nature of the activity will give them relief from screen time during remote learning.
