My goal is for students to love reading as much as I do. To reach this goal, I want to expose the students to as many different kinds of books as I can while they're in my classroom. Each day we have Tier 2 reading time and during this time I am able to take my students on adventures through books they've never read before. I've seen students fall in love with series' just by reading one book with a small group. They become better independent readers and reading becomes a motivation for them. These books will open up a world of possibilities for my students and me. I will be able to plan lessons around these books, using them to teach literary components and genres. My students will be able to form literature circles and learn how to discuss literature with their classmates. I hope to see an increase in excitement about books and reading by being able to provide a wider variety of reading experiences for my students. These books are fiction, but I hope to also get nonfiction texts in the future that students can use to integrate science into their reading groups time. These books will be used to assist in writing lessons as well.
