The cash registers will provide more opportunities for our students to be work on an area that hasn't been provided to them before. They we will be working on their math skills, customer service, communication, and being able to apply for jobs that require some experience. It will help reduce the anxiety and give them the confidence to apply for a cashier job because they have been exposed to some training. Student's with disabilities shouldn't just be hired for custodial, stocking, and bagging groceries. All vocational training should be provided in school and after school so that they have the opportunity to do beyond the stereotypical job skills. I know with these materials it will open more doors for our students and the staff will be able to create more opportunities for them in the classroom. I will see students who are beyond the basic level and grow into their strengths.
