If you've stepped foot in a school lately, you may notice a difference from when the rigors that we had 20, 30, erm, 40 years ago. This is a big reason we have more behaviors in the classroom as well as more diagnosis of anxiety in children. The use of a sensory room is a easy strategy to help a student calm down or provide a break from the classroom. Every student is different in their need for sensory input though, so a variety of options in a sensory room is a must. That is the reason for this Donors Choose project. Usually a sensory room is designed for special education students with special education funds. Unfortunately, because of this general education students are then excluded from using it. Being able to get items using Donors Choose will enable ALL students to use the sensory room as the funding issue is non-existent! Plus, taking breaks is something everyone does to help get them through a day and promotes health and wellness.
