My students are ethnically diverse and live in an urban inter-city neighborhood. About 80% are eligible for free and reduced lunch programs, and with the current economic downturn, their families don't have much money for meeting some school supplies. It is hard for them to print out assignments because many of them do not have computers or printers at home, and the school library is not currently equipped with a student printer. We do not having functioning computer labs, and some children need to take flash drives to public libraries to be able to print out work.
