As a school based Speech Language Pathologist one of the most powerful tools that I can provide to support communication is the support of visuals. They will provide the students with limited verbal output the ability to participate in group activities by using manipulatives, pictures and songs to improve there expressive communication. The students on my caseload have disabilities that impact their abilities to listen, to attend and communicate their wants and needs. They would benefit from materials which they can see, hear and touch in order for them to connect with the stories. Overall, lessons would become more interactive, which can also improve their social language skills.
