Since the calculators will remain in the classroom, I will not have to worry about students bringing their own calculator or a charged chrome book (or cell phone) to class in order to complete a task. This would also cut down on the distractions that cell phones and chrome books pose to our students. The handheld calculators would be used on a daily basis. Most of the topics we cover require the use of a calculator to foster a deeper understanding of concepts. If students get bogged down in calculations, they can easily lose focus or get discouraged. For example, if a student has difficulty with adding fractions, I do not want that to be a deterrent to his/her understanding of unit rates.
