Studies have proven and personal experience has convinced me that movement and music are extremely beneficial in the cognitive development of young children. Social, emotional, physical, mathematical, and language development are some of the beneficial by-products of engaging children; incorporating music and playing instruments makes these experiences even more engaging. As research continues to reveal more and more ways that music benefits the young child, one takeaway is clear: by participating wholeheartedly in musical experiences, our children engage their bodies and their minds. They have fun while sparking intellectual growth.
