All of the materials I am requesting are already those have been used in the classroom. However, we are running out of my personal materials and I want nothing more than for my students to have access to all of the tools that will set them up for success. Students will be using sticky notes for their daily annotations in their class texts because they are borrowing these books from the library. Sticky notes are also a great way for students to engage in a quick entrance or exit ticket on a daily basis. Students who have their own copies of the class text will be able to use the highlighters and pens requested to actually write in their novels. The expo markers requested will be used when I am presenting a teacher model on the correct way to annotate on the classroom whiteboard via powerpoint. The novels requested will be used for independent reading time in class, which is also known as JRB (Joy Reading Book) Time. This is a time where students take 15 minutes at the beginning of class to read a novel of their choice to ensure that they are actively reading on a daily basis. This also increases student engagement and gets them excited to read! The library in our school is limited and what I have in the classroom are novels many students have read before, so giving them more variety and options will hopefully encourage students to get even more excited to read their books when they get to class. These materials will really help set students up for success and get them excited about reading!
