My school district is a district that has thirty-five percent of its student population qualify for the free-lunch program. Many of these students have never been outside of a few miles of their houses. It is very difficult to get students to learn about and appreciate Earth Science when they can never see what they are learning about up close. They are unable to see different rock formations and places where there was once a shallow sea and is now covered with sea creature fossils. These places can be brought into the classroom a little bit at a time with the Document Camera.
