I am one of three teachers in the Theatre Arts Department; we each have a classroom and our school has a single auditorium. Each teacher's room has an individual character - one is set up to accommodate lots of movement, from dance to play rehearsals; one is a combination classroom and costume shop; and mine is a combination classroom and woodshop. Being that we are a public magnet school program, we do a lot of fundraising to help support the yearly productions costs (rights to plays, costumes, sets, props, etc.) as well as some of our educational initiatives. Unfortunately, one area that is in desperate need of repair and renovation is our shared auditorium. The cost to upgrade our auditorium's technical facilities (some of which need repair for safety' sake) is far beyond our normal operating budget and also well beyond our normal fundraising capabilities. Please consider helping some amazing theatre kids!
