In whole class settings, sand tray creations will allow for discussion and reflection of key learning principles such as diversity, conflict resolution, career readiness, and respect. Students will use sand trays and miniatures to build scenes that will demonstrate their learning, help them think about and solve problems, and allow them to express themselves kinesthetically. When scenes are shared, it allows students to make connections and collaborate with others. In small group and individual counseling sessions, sand trays will help students express themselves through "play". Creating a scene with sand is a relaxing, imaginative and a non-threatening way to express oneself. It's also fun!
