The materials requested will aid in increasing student's reading comprehension skills and allow them the ability to practice at school and home. According to an article on the science of reading, teaching text structure, comprehension strategy instruction and vocabulary and knowledge are keys to developing solid reading comprehension skills. The tablets and reading comprehension workbooks will provide additional exposure to the skills students need to become strong readers. Most of the students do not have access to electronic devices or books at home. I would like to provide the opportunity for students to be able to engage in meaningful learning activities beyond the walls of the school.
