My students will be taking an elective class about modern strategy board games. Today's students are so often "plugged in" that these games will provide an opportunity for them to think, learn, laugh, and interact with their peers in ways they too seldom do currently. Students will learn to think and plan their strategy ahead, as well as experience cooperative board games which they may never have played before. The selected games represent a wide range of multiplayer, modern, strategy board games that can be played in under 45 minutes. Some games involve students negotiating with each other. Other games provide opportunities for planning strategy over multiple turns. In each of the selected games, luck is minimized which gives the students a great agency over the decision-making process. On top of all that, the selected games are FUN!
