Research suggests that instruction and participation in visual art help improve students' academic performance, creativity, motor skills, confidence, focus, and decision making skills. "The arts enhance the process of learning. The systems they nourish, which include integrated sensory, attentional, cognitive, emotional, and motor capacities, are in fact, the driving forces behind all other learning. " (Jensen, 2001) The supplies I chose for this project will be used by my students to enhance projects assigned relating to literature, social studies, science and math. In addition, the oil pastels, permanent markers, watercolors, and watercolor paper will also be used to create visual art; more specifically, one point perspective, silhouettes, and artwork that demonstrates students knowledge of blending and value.
