My students adore learning about the world they live in. I do what I can to provide them with resources to do so, but on a new teacher budget that is not easy! I am looking to stock my library with quality nonfiction texts at my students' varying levels so that they have as many opportunities to learn about their interests as possible. In order to meet Common Core Standards, having varying types of texts is crucial. I am teaching people, not subjects. I want my students to know that in my classroom, they are discovering who they are. Many students benefit from nonfiction texts to help them do just that. I may have a future scientist or politician in my classroom who just needs that extra push to spark their fire!
