The books that are donated will be sent home will help students develop their reading comprehension skills that are in the NVAC standards. Students will take a book home nightly and return it the next day. This gives students ownership of what they are reading. Reading these books will strengthen their reading strategies, phonemic awareness, phonics, and sight word knowledge. Having access to books daily will not only help their academics but will foster a love for reading to carry on into their school career. RL.K.1-RL.K.10, RI.K.1-RI.K.10, RF.K.1-RF.K.4. The puzzles and STEM toys will help students put their engineering brains to work, as well as develop the NVAC standards K-2 Engineering Design and the learner behaviors SLB.1 Observes school rules SLB.6 Works cooperatively. It will also help reinforce speaking and listening standards. These toys will be used during our center rotation. They will also help strengthen fine and gross motor skills.
