Our 950 students learn by hearing, and seeing, and physically doing. My students are significantly impacted when they can’t hear my instructions or feedback on how to sequence and build their physical skills. Also, the extremely loud and echoing Gym noise often leads to students complaining of head aches. This ongoing situation impacts my students ability to focus and engage in an enriching P. E. experience. This problem interferes with my goals as an educator because I want my students to have positive fitness and health experiences. An additional goal is for my students to bring these health, fitness and communication practices home to their families to share and add to the routine of their family life. A large part of our curriculum is based in team building where students are developing their physical, social and emotional skills. It is without a doubt that our communication is often impeded by the horrible sound quality in the Gym. Your generosity will help us acquire the sound proofing materials and allow my students to exercise in a noise safe environment.
