Students will use Lord of the Flies to better understand human nature. Golding's masterpiece is relatable to the students, and provides a great springboard for discussions about ethics, leadership, and perseverance. By delving into the story and relating it to various topics the students face, they will come out with a better understanding of human nature and the importance of good people. Students will be able to relate to the novel and realize the importance of friendship, leadership, and hope in daily life. Many of my students strive to better themselves and hold leadership positions, and the novel shows how good and bad leaders can have a direct impact to the survival of what is going on around them.
