We started a school wide incentive store to help build and maintain a positive culture in our building. The students earn dojo points for positive behavior in the classroom on a daily basis and every five weeks are able to use those points to shop ! They are given an order form with a list of items they can purchase with their points they earned. Part of the project is having parents come in and volunteer to assist with completing and delivering the orders to each classroom. This helps increase parent involvement and increase the positive relationship between parents and staff. We have basic school supplies such as pencils, erasers, notebooks, and then also fun things such as bracelets and incentive coupons. The school supplies on the order form are items the students do not bring to school in the beginning of the school year and are needed on a day to day basis. By having the store, the students have the opportunity to earn the basic needs to help them be successful in their classes. The incentive coupons such as out of uniform passes, hat passes, or extra recess passes are a positive reinforcement for the students to work hard and follow the daily expectations so they are able to earn points. We have requested some fun type items for the store as well to keep the students motivated and excited about earning positive dojo points to use to shop. Our population of students do not get to buy many fun type things so we wanted to give them the opportunity to earn them at school with their positive behavior.
