I teach AP courses and am hoping to get materials to enhance their learning. I would like Siddhartha to read with my World History students. This is a great novel that will help them understand different religions around the world - in particular Buddhism. As an AVID elective teacher I really want to read a 'fun' text that talks about individual determination. I chose The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian because we live close to many Native American reservations and it is culturally relevant to our area. I would like my AP Government students to read It Can't Happen Here to illustrate the fragility of democracy and issues in our current system. This would be a project they would work on after the AP test in May. In general, I want to promote literacy, reading, and love of learning with my students. My budget for an entire school year is $200 and simply it just isn't enough to get the resources I want to teach my students in the best possible way.
