My students are hard working scholars that have bright futures ahead of them. As the year progresses, many of my students are beginning to master the work in class and need extension activities to help push their learning forward. During our next unit, we will be reading "Malcolm X: By Any Means Necessary" and I'll be providing my students the extension opportunity to complete a comparative study of social protests using the young adult novel, "The Hate U Give". This extension project will allow my students to learn more about important social issues, will help to further develop their technological skills, and will continue to foster a lifelong love of reading and learning. Specifically, the Samsung Galaxy tablets will enable students to complete independent research at their own pace. Students will use "The Hate U Give" to aid their research, and the additional fiction novels from the wishlist will provide supplemental material for students to use in their novel analysis. These resources will help push my students forward and ensure that they are prepared and set up for success in high school, college, and beyond.
