Materials that are in color improve my students ability to learn. Contrasting colors of materials are especially important for my student with visual impairments. My students with autism work best with materials that are realistic in nature. This can only be done through color. I have many students who are still working on color identification. It is difficult for them to "find the color" when their work is in black and white. When students are learning food words (or emotions) it really helps when the pictures are in color and not just black and white. I also take photos of items in their environment in order to make picture schedules. They need to be in life like colors to be effective. I currently print large amounts of materials on my personal computer. I do not have a printer in my classroom and I do not have a classroom supply budget. I bring my own materials and try to beg/borrow the rest. Any help is appreciated. I know that money is tight for everyone and there are many worthy projects to choose from.
