We are trying to build classroom sets of TI-30x calculators so that all of our students can use the same tool for learning, projects, and assessments. While phones can occasionally be used as calculators, not all students have them, different phones have different functions, they cause distractions, and they definitely cannot be used during assessments. Having all students use the same calculators makes it much more useful and efficient for us to teach them how to use all of the functions. Right now, we are sharing a couple of sets between all of our 7th and 8th grade classrooms so there's not enough to go around in any classroom. We have also added more Tier II math classes recently (grade level material but at a slower pace) which has created more classrooms that need calculators.
