Tantrums are an everyday thing in my class. We try to de-escalate students as much as possible before they reach the point of a full out tantrum but often times it is inevitable. I currently have a calm down corner with a rocking chair, a clothes rack with a curtain on it, calming strategy posters, and a timer- all in hopes to allow the student a safe and private environment to tantrum/ have a meltdown in. I have several students who become very aggressive during their tantrums and destroy the calm down corner. My students would really benefit from these privacy screens/room dividers that are much more durable than a clothes rack.
