Many of my students don't get the opportunity to play team sports outside of school. This project will give me the opportunity to teach various sports that they would have otherwise never experience. We will be using the hockey sticks, hockey balls, and goals to replace the old equipment that is no longer usable. The cones will be used to mark fields and hazards so the students have a safe clear area to participate in activities. The footballs will be for flag football, modified rugby, and some medieval games. We currently have a limited number of soccer balls and Frisbees so the additional ones will help increase the amount of student involvement during those units. Teaching students team sports gives me the opportunity to teach them how to productively work with one another. As a team they are expected to set goals and work together to achieve those goals. As a physical educator my goal is to create life long movers. Throughout their time in middle school and high school students are introduced to various types of physical activities and sports; the goal is that they will find an activity or sport that they enjoy participating in post high school. It is so important to teach our children the value of staying physically active throughout life.
