One area my students struggle with is writing. Having taught 7th and 8th graders for 3 years I have begun to see a trend with overcoming this obstacle. I am requesting 1 docu-camera, 5-6 packs of wide-ruled writing paper, pencils, and pens. With these resources, I will be able to model how to effectively write a 5-paragraph essay, and students will have the resources to develop their writing skills. In my classroom, we practice writing on a daily basis with our bell ringers and exit tickets. The addition of technology and resources will build confidence in their understanding of the writing process. Students who are confident in their writing will ultimately be more confident in their reading.
