Teaching grammar in the Spanish language is the foundation for what students use to read, write and speak well in the target language. However, their use of the language is very limited to the classroom, when we have brief conversations in class. Reading is a bridge from seeing the grammar they are learning, and more than they are learning, to using the language; that helps them grasp the concepts and feel motivated to take risks and use the language more. We have no budget nor library of story books for our students, and what I am specifically doing in the classroom with them would be so tremendously-enhanced with this set of books I have requested.
